Injury & Pain – Hot Plate and Plantar Tests
The hot plate and Hargreaves tests measure the thermal pain threshold. These tests and the tail flick test are used to assess differences in the pain threshold between different mouse strains and to test the potential analgesic or hyperalgesic properties of compounds.
Morphine dose-dependently increases the latency to lift the paw in response to a thermal stimulus.
