| Services - Anxiety - Novelty Suppressed Feeding | |
This test assesses stress-induced anxiety by measuring the latency of a food deprived animal to approach and eat a familiar food in an aversive environment. The test is sensitive to acute anxiolytic treatment and chronic antidepressant treatment. Novelty suppressed feeding is therefore one of the few behavioral tests differentially sensitive to acute vs. chronic responses of anxiolytics and antidepressants respectively. | |
(A) | (B) | |
| The latency for food deprived mice to eat in a novel environment is reduced with the anxiolytic, Diazepam, (A) while not having an overall effect on food consumption (B). |
